BEND.. so you don't break!




Lower back pain came on pretty prematurely for me.


A few months ago, I tweaked something in my lower back that ended up giving me extreme pain for 3 months. I couldn’t even bend down to touch my toes without it hurting.. Yikes!

I tried massage therapy and chiro for months.. yet the pain was still there. I was hunting and gathering possible solutions to free myself from feeling completely immobile.


Step 1: YOGA


It just so happened to be a week from Jan 1st, so I then decided my New Years resolution was going to be joining a yoga studio, how original hey?

All jokes aside, I was hesitant to even begin as my back pain would trigger every time I’d even bend down. But, I knew if I just listened to my body and felt which positions/ poses were ok to do, then that would be a start at least.

Luckily, the studio I chose is very accepting and compassionate (like most yoga studios). The teachers are YOUR guide and want YOU to feel good! So I had no issues with really listening to what my body needed in order to start my yoga journey smoothly.

It has been just over a month of consistent hot yoga, and my lower back is pretty much pain free! Working at a desk job can really mess up your back.. so getting deep stretches in is pretty much crucial (at least for me)


STEP 2: ACUPUNCTURE


This step just seals the deal ✔

Acupuncture not only helped heal my injury, but it took the pain away too.

I might add that it is insanely relaxing! Who knew sticking multiple tiny pins in your back could be so relaxing! Again, this is just my experience. I have so much respect for Chinese Medicine after experiencing acupuncture. I went to three sessions so far and all have been amazing.

Even though my back is healed, I will continue to go to my acupuncturist as it helps with balancing hormones, anxiety, and PMS symptoms ETC.


I think of yoga now as a preventative measure. Being so active can really hurt your body in the long run if you are hitting the gym without doing a proper post stretch session, as well as sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week… gross.
